Stand & Deliver - A plea to the First Minister's Airport Task Force

After, what seems an inordinate delay, the much needed Airport Task Force to be chaired by Carwyn Jones meets this Wednesday.

As far as we are concerned this is not a moment too  soon .

• Airports are good for economies and for business
•  Airports bring in tourists and much needed income to businesses

So, why have we allowed the strategically important international gateway to Wales reach a point where its passenger numbers could fall below the critical number of one million ?

A reminder of the  aims of the task force are set out below.

·         Growing Cardiff Airport's leisure, business and freight traffic

·         Improving the experience of airport users

·         Maximising its economic impact, commercially and for Wales

·         Minimising negative environmental effects

·         Promoting better communication between Cardiff Airport, the business community and the public sector

·         To identify and recommend specific improvements and investment needed for Wales to boost air connectivity

We are committed to making Cardiff Airport realise its true potential as a modern, competitive, thriving and commercially successful airport, which is a key economic driver and source of pride for the people of Wales.
