Great news but challenges still
ahead
So the
worst kept secret in politics has happened and the Welsh Government has bought
Cardiff Airport.
Of course
there will be challenges ahead but is great to hear the First Minister talking about short and long term objectives
for the airport. It is also reassuring to hear Edwina Hart making the case that
the airport is good for business and the Welsh economy.
These are
all things we have been saying. We now need the people who sell Wales to go and
sell it to new markets for business and tourism. We don’t just want outbound
tourism we want inbound tourists like the Spanish that Vueling Airlines has
bought in by marketing Wales as a destination.
We need the business community
to tap into new markets to showcase their talents to new customers and invite
them to Wales via Cardiff Airport.
Wales is
clearly open for business, has an airport that is open for business and with
new owners who have empathy for Wales – will become an airport we can all be
proud of and use.
Remember
that Welsh Passengers are only on loan to Bristol and we want them back!
