Fly Cardiff -Who are & what are we about ?

Who are we ?

We are FlyCardiff. Who are three members of the general public who want things to improve at Cardiff Airport.

What are our  aims (taken from our facebook page)

This page aims to attract more airlines and business into Cardiff Airport and the greater South Wales communities. Fly Cardiff hopes to work alongside the airport and act as a bridge between it, its customers and the Welsh Government

We are not anti airport. There has been a lot of criticism of the Airport. We just want things to improve. We have refrained from direct criticism, as we don’t think it is helpful. We are where we are with the airport & things need to improve.

We want to engage with the general public as there seems to be a lack of awareness of the plight of the airport & the fact that BMI Baby are withdrawing at the end of the summer season.

We want to engage with all stakeholders e.g. You, the Welsh travelling public, Welsh Government, Arriva Trains, Cardiff Bus, Taxi companies, hotels and B &Bs etc and have started to reach out to them all through social media.

How do we communicate our aims & reach out ?

We communicate our message/aims through:

 our facebook page

Twitter @flycardiff

Our free e-petition

Why are we doing this ?

o   Because we care,
o   Cardiff is a city that punches well above its weight, but not with its air service
o   Because Cardiff capital city of Wales deserves better
o   Because people of Wales deserve a better air service
o   Air services have been deteriorating for some time and BMI baby leaves at end of September
o   Economic benefits to the economy & business.
o   All this business being lost from the Welsh economy, car parking, ticket sales, advertising and pr opportunities, car hire, hotels, taxi's, airport shopping
o   Inbound tourism brings money to the Welsh economy
o   Why do tourists have to access Wales via England ?? As well as the longer journey & inconvenience - there is an environmental impact increased C02 emissions by having to travel elsewhere
